A couple of days ago, we welcomed a new scaly member to our family. Meet Madam Peppercake!
She is a baby Western Hognose, or more precisely a plains hognose. She is tiny, weighing in at only 22 grams. I will likely be posting some videos of her later on, I don't plan to share anything on my art twitters about her. She will be on my personal instagram though, which can be found here. So if you're wondering about the name, it was a mix of peppercorn and pancake. Hognoses will flatten their heads into a makeshift cobra hood and hiss when they are stressed, so she's like a pancake. Her belly has a smattering of different colors, including orange, yellow, white, black, and brown, which made me think of maize or peppercorns. We couldn't decide on one, so we combined them both together. We just added Madam because she is very proper and adorable.
